The Congress of the faculty of Law students, Obafemi Awolowo University, had reinstated the General Secretary, Eluyera Dipo, the Treasurer, Adeagbo Folakemi and the Assistant Gen Secretary, identified as Oladapo.
The executives were reinstated unconditionally at a congress of faculty of law students held on Wednesday.
OAU KILONSHELE learnt that after a sitting of the parliament last week, Mr. Eluyera was impeached while Ms Adeagbo and Mr. Oladapo were for one week and three weeks respectively on the basis of misappropraition of funds and for not availing to the LSRC's panel of investigation.
Our correspondent gathered that Mr. Eluyera was indicted by the Law SRC on the basis of misappropraition of funds - a sum of ₦20,800, and was invited to the panel with four other executives which were, the president, the Public Relation Officer, the Assistant General Secretary and the Treasurer.
According to the report released by the LSRC, the president and the Public Relation Officer appeared before the panel at the third invitation and that was why they were not punished.
"These officers were all invited and given an opportunity to defend themselves on Friday the 9th of November. However, as though it were a conspiracy, they all failed to appear; some switched off their phones and those that did not, refused to pick up their calls, despite being served notice in hardcopy letter, on WhatsApp and by word of mouth."
"This led members of the panel to in her first report recommend some punitive measures as punishments which the L.S.R.C initially rejected on grounds that all humans and our Executives deserved a second chance."
"This second chance was presented to them as they were each served second letters requesting their presence on the 19th of November for the panels meeting on the 23rd of November. Yet again, they all refused to show up (Clear Conscience fears no accusation)," the LSRC public relations committee wrote
However, Mr. Eluyera when contacted, told OAU KILONSHELE that he didn't do any wrong and also noted that he missed the sitting due to official duty.
"The President called me from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation that I had to quickly type, print and submit a letter to the Federal High Court Ibadan urgently. Swiftly, I dressed, got to the secretariat to get the letter ready, called my AGS and journeyed to the Federal High Court. The Chairman of this committee Adebayo Adedoyin of LL.B 4 was timeously informed of this sudden change of plans through the President.," said Mr. Dipo.
Mr. Eluyera also clarified the issue of misappropraition of funds and wrongful spending in an article he wrote after he was impeached, which he termed erroneous.
"The resolution says I spent 20,800 Nigerian Naira on secretariat duties. Sadly, I cannot be assuming on behalf of the panel on how they arrived at the erroneous figure or what those unratified secretariat expenditures are."
"It is fundamental principle of Law that he who affirms must prove. If I am to defend secretariat expenditures that the Panel consider to be unauthorised, they have to be stated and not for me to generate and defend assumptions." Mr. Dipo said in his article.
Ms Adeagbo speaking at the Congress on Wednesday clarified that she attended the Panel's meeting and even waited for over two hours.
"I attended the panel meeting and even waited for over two hours before I was told by the chairman of the panel that I've already contravened the provisions of the constitution and that the panel was not obliged to address me.
"The constitution said there must be a fair and thorough investigation but the investigation was not fair," said the treasurer.
Meanwhile, the Congress members reinstated the executives unconditionally and stated that the parliament tender an apology letter and publish on one national newspaper and all campus-based news agency.
